My incredible wonderful niece is engaged!
What could be better than the happy proof that life goes on, despite the times that feel as if the happiness is nowhere in sight. This is a kid who gave so much of herself to her grandparents -- she never had a doubt that they had given so much to her -- that we were afraid their loss, both of them in the last year, would have a terrible impact on her. But she's held on, and is engaged to a young man who is good and good to her. What's better than that?
Because her father never played a part in her life, it was always her hope that Grandpa would walk her down the aisle. Even he was preparing her for the last few years for the likelihood that this was not going to happen. So we will have some sadness on her wedding day, but knowing how happy he would have been for her will help make it okay. I'm guessing she'll ask her mother, or her twin brother, to give her away instead. No doubt in anyone's mind that Grandma and Grandpa will be both there anyway.
And on another note, thanks Hughes Hall! Hope your finals go well.
