Coffee, Tea, or Bad Music? 445

05.27.2004

It's not that the Coffee House last night didn't go well -- it did -- but the music just wasn't up to par. There was one kid who sang and played the guitar and was sooooo bad that I couldn't even tell he was singing "Yesterday" until more than halfway through, and a teacher sat beside him and held up the words on a piece of paper and coached him on what chords to play. The thing is, he's in the school rock band (an interesting activity, more at another time) and he was just awful. Glad I'm not going to their annual show in a couple of weeks. Both of my nephews were in the band in their day, as singers though, not musicians, so I've seen good shows. This year does not look promising.

It was so boring that I started writing a diary entry on paper a couple of times, although I never finished it. And this brings our GSA year to a close. One more meeting in two weeks, but that's mostly an end-of-year party just for members. We're still working on becoming what we want to be as a club and as a presence in the school. It's okay, this is only our second year. And if political issues heat up in the fall, as it looks like they will, we could be in the middle of it.

Still tired. I bet it's the antiobiotics the dentist gave me after the root canal on Tuesday. As if that worked.
