The Psycho 116

04.09.2003

5:59 pm

I just wrote a much longer and very sincere entry with the same title: The Psycho. It was about the principal of my school, and how she bullies and intimidates people for sport and gets away with it. I work in a climate of fear, although it is a vague sort of fear: what are we afraid of? We are afraid that if she looks our way, our lives will be worse than anything they could make you eat or shove someplace on Fear Factor.

I'm afraid to upload it.

That wonderful tribute to the human spirit and sense of self, Anthem, begins with this line: "It is a sin to write this." But it's not a sin to write this; I know that. I also know that since she thinks the Internet is all done with smoke and mirrors that she could never stumble across my page under any circumstances.

What am I afraid of, I wonder? We are all afraid, all of us who go into that building like little worker ants and do our jobs with our heads down, hoping not to make eye contact with the Psycho, ever. Unless, of course, you're one of her Stooges, and you make a point of telling her who said what in the faculty room. No kidding.

Ah well. It seems she told a kid that she isn't allowed to express anti-war sentiments in school. I hope the kid calls the ACLU.

Enough said.
