Go Away 822

Looks like rain tomorrow morning, so no park walk for me, I guess. Maybe I'll try the mall again; it's not as if I didn't like walking there, although I like the park better. In fact, it looks like rain off and on all week, as well as record heat. I can't imagine it'll be any better in Washington next weekend, for sure.

Get this one, this is funny. K has now lived two whole semesters and a summer away from home and not in a dorm, and she's finally learning how to cook her own food from scratch (as opposed to easy mac and ramen noodles and hot pockets.) So when I go there next weekend, I'm bring her some of my recipes. !!!!!!! I know! How funny is that; it's not as if I'm exactly good at this myself. Compounding the irony is that one of the cooking/eating problems I always had was that I was inclined to make stews and one-pot meals which my kids, when they were little, outright refused to eat, and so I leaned towards convenience foods and the like. (If I broiled a piece of meat and served it with canned vegetables and a baked potato -- the meal I ate every night at home from the day I grew teeth until I got married -- they wouldn't eat that, either.) I stopped trying to cook because they just wouldn't eat what I made, and the Hubs was cooking his own vegan food anyway. But the kind of stuff I make for myself now is what K is starting to cook. What goes around comes around, eh?
