... from our nation's capitol. It has been an uneventful day, in the negative sense. We started off when we meant to, made good time and only stopped twice (a record for me, no doubt) and met no traffic in the city. It took a few turns around the block to park by K's apartment, but that was to be expected. Checked into the hotel, very nice, walked around the city a bit, found a nice place for Chinese food. It's about 8:00; the girls just left to enjoy their evening, and the Hubs and I are -- what a surprise -- watching SVU. Free Internet in the room.

He (the Hubs) is being delightfully pleasant and not all martyr-y and weird, which is his potential and natural state. I think he must have decided ahead of time that this weekend was for K and so he's being easy to get along with. The other shoe may yet drop, but so far, so good. I've offered to drive home on Monday so he can be on the phone for work the whole way, but he said depending on when we leave, he'll drive the first leg. He drove the whole way today, no tantrums at other drivers or anything. If you've wondered why I never travel with my husband, it's because I dread all that temper crap, but this weekend is shaping up nicely.

No rain, either, although it's anticipated for tomorrow afternoon. This is okay with me, too; I can handle working our way to the restaurant and back to the hotel in the rain, especially if there's none of it on our way to the ceremony.

We're meeting the girls at K's apartment at 10:30, and then off to the campus by 11:00. With any luck, it will not be the most boring graduation ceremony ever, but they're all pretty dreadful by nature. The Hubs and I expect to back in the hotel for the Sopranos, if not West Wing. The girls will be doing whatever it is that people do on the night they graduate from college.

Okay, I'm giving the Hubs the Internet back now --
