Tell me what to do! Make a decision for me!Actually, we have made this decision so far. If the hurricane dissipates, or somehow does not hit Florida at all, we will go as planned on Thursday. If the hurricane does hit southern Florida, even if it's Tuesday or Wednesday, we will not go. According to the Chum, whose mother, you'll recall, lives right near where we're going, the aftermath of the hurricanes there are worse than the storms. The storm rages, then passes, and the sun comes out and the skies are blue, but they are often without power for days -- two weeks, once -- which includes traffic lights. And, I presume, hotels and malls. Gas is hard to get. (The Chum's brother, who's still down there with their mother, waited on line for a couple of hours this morning.) Even if the planes are landing there, it just seems like insanity to fly to someplace that's just had a hurricane the day before.
Still, I have neither finished packing nor started to unpack. I just don't know what to do. This is too much for the OCD side of me, which needs to plan obsessively for everything.
Did you see the Emmys last night? Tell me, isn't the funniest man on TV still Bob Newhart?
R went to the doctor today, who tested her for mono. That would suck. The doctor said that since she's had mono before (in high school), that a positive test now would mean that what she actually has is Epstein-Barr. Even so, the doctor wasn't all that concerned; they must have some decent treatment for E-B now that they didn't have 20 years ago when my friend The Other Chai had it. She finally got better by following some special diet, but I guess now there are some anti-viral drugs they can use. Whatever; it's a virus, and we've had some unpleasant experiences with those, like when K had Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome, triggered by a minor passing virus, and was sick for a year and a half.
Okay. I'm watching the Weather Channel like my life depends on it.
